PCPGH5 Video: “Memo From Your Blog’s Legal Department” Cristopher Hoel
Memo From Your Blog’s Legal Department
What? Your blog doesn’t have (or need) a legal department? This session might change your mind, by providing introductory, general information concerning legal issues relevant to bloggers. Topics may include copyright (including fair use); defamation (including liability for third-party content); shield laws and compulsory disclosure of IP addresses; taxation and business registration; access to public records; and confidentiality.
Cristopher Hoel is a Pittsburgh-based attorney — and former journalist, for newspaper such as Pittsburgh’s Press and Post-Gazette — who has represented publishers (newspaper, magazine and journal), broadcasters (television and radio) and authors with respect to the law of expression. Formerly associated with Buchanan Ingersoll and Schnader Harrison, Cris devotes most of his legal practice to making the world safe for beer.
