In August, the first-ever #journchat LIVE Pittsburgh took place. #journchat is the brainchild of @PRSarahEvans and is a weekly discussion on Twitter between journalists, PR professionals and bloggers. She will discuss how you can promote things via social media and get involved in these types of events/chats.
Deanna Ferrari is an account executive at WordWrite Communications, where she is responsible for day-to-day media relations, writing, and account management. She is the agency internship program supervisor and in charge of the WordWrite social media initiative, currently assisting several clients join the social media revolution as well. Some of her greatest social media successes include tweeting on behalf of a former fast food client, getting a client placed on the homepage of KDKA.com for its unique Twitter presence, and getting her dad to join Facebook. She’s currently active in the Pittsburgh chapter of Public Relations Society of America, serving as the 2009 Speakers Series chair, responsible for identifying and arranging major speakers for the chapter’s professional development events.

Locally Toned: Ringtone Project
Teresa Foley of Locally Toned an original ringtone creation and distribution project. social/digital/art
Locally Toned is artist T. Foley’s public art/original ringtone creation project. A not-for-profit venture, it involves Pittsburghers in the creation of original ringtones, and then provides free distribution via the Web and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). This art project utilizes the airspace as public property for purposes of sonic transmission–the work “performs itself” when Locally Toned participants receive calls on their cell phones. The goals of the project are technological empowerment, community service and the substitution of a system of shared creativity for one of commerce (the distribution of music industry ringtones). The project was realized and supported within deeplocal’s Old and New Media Residency program (with additional support from co-host Encyclopedia Destructica).
