Be more than just an attendee at PodCamp Pittsburgh this year: Become a PCPGH5 volunteer!

Volunteers are needed to help with registration, food set up and clean up, hallway monitoring (pointing people in the right direction), and new this year: chat room monitors.

Each session will be live-streamed with a chat room for virtual attendees and we need someone in each session to monitor the chat room for questions and comments from viewers to make sure everyone can interact with the presentation. Your role as a chat room monitor will help the speaker’s presentation go smoothly and you’ll be able to take a more interactive roll in your favorite sessions.

As a volunteer, you will receive high-fives from the organizers and a really sweet t-shirt that will distinguish you from everyone else.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up on the Google Doc for a time slot. You may not be required to work for the entire time slot, but we want to make sure we have enough people on hand at all times.

Volunteers will be invited to a special PodCamp Prep Evening on Wednesday, September 15 where you can pick up your t-shirt, help stuff VIP swag bags, and assist in getting our print materials ready for the event.

If you have any questions about volunteering for PCPGH5, please contact Jennie.

Volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend a pre-PodCamp preparation evening event on Wednesday, October 7 at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where we will prepare event materials, name badges, stuff swag bags and provide a brief run-down of event logistics.

Volunteer positions are as follows:

October 9, 2009

  • Meet N Greet set up and clean up
  • Meet N Greet Greeters

1-2 hour time slots between 5:00p.m. and 10:00p.m.

October 10 & 11, 2009

  • Registration and Information Table
  • Swag bag giver and t-shirt sales
  • Food set up, stocking, clean up and trash emptier
  • Mentor Lounge Coordinator

Time slots are all 2 hours each between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m.

Tech Team volunteers will be on duty for either an AM or PM shift and are needed on both Saturday and Sunday. Tech Team members will be on call as needed and are free to enjoy the event. Tech Team volunteers must attend the October 7 preparation evening event to meet the Vivo team and learn how to provide technical support.

Once you have emailed Jennie with your interest to volunteer, you will be given access to the Volunteer Google Doc where we will keep track of the volunteer schedule.

Since you’ll probably want to attend a few sessions at PodCamp as well as volunteer, please feel free to express your interest for volunteering prior to committing to a time slot.

Thanks in advance for helping make PodCamp Pittsburgh 4 AWESOME!!

We are pleased to announce the following local sponsors who will help make PodCamp Pittsburgh 4 awesome!

Commonwealth Press, a Pittsburgh creative powerhouse, has generously donated their services to print and supply t-shirts for this year’s event. Commonwealth Press is excited to assist with the event and is pleased that PodCamp Pittsburgh is still going strong in its fourth year.

The Should I Drink That? Podcast is donating beverages for the meet n greet event on Friday evening. We are very thankful to have these loyal and local beer enthusiasts making sure we start off PodCamp Pittsburgh 4 right. Thanks Doug and Brad!

Most recently, we secured a partnership with Vivo to provide live streaming and archiving services of sessions and panels throughout the event. Vivo is a Pittsburgh based AlphaLab start up and their mission is to provide easy to use web casting services without advertisements or unwanted visitors. Vivo has also integrated a great interactive feature so that a question and answer session can be easily managed during sessions. We’re pumped to work with Vivo this year!

Volunteer resources will be allocated for Vivo to have a tech team available to assist them during the event. If you’re interested in volunteering for the tech team, please contact Jennie Roth.

We’re still searching for some other great sponsors! Please contact Melissa Sorg if you are interested in sponsoring PodCamp Pittsburgh. Visit our sponsor page for more information.
